Our board certified physicians and qualified staff provide quality medical services for minor emergencies and illnesses. As well, we are an alternative for an emergency room with the expertise of our emergency medicine physicians in a state of the art clinic.

dr. darren waters

Darren Waters, MD, FACEP, Medical Director

Dr. Waters is a graduate of the University of South Alabama Medical School. He completed post-graduate training at the University of Kentucky Medical Center where he was Chief Resident. Dr. Waters is residency trained and board certified in Emergency Medicine. He is a Fellow in the American College of Emergency Medicine Physicians, and has practiced Emergency Medicine and Urgent Care Medicine since graduating residency. He has a special interest in Occupational and Sports Medicine. He is married and has two children.


dr. shannon waters

Shannon Waters, MD, FACEP

Dr. Waters completed undergraduate studies at the University of South Alabama. She graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine, and completed an OB/GYN internship, and emergency medicine residency at the University of Kentucky. After residency, she worked as an attending physician at the University of Kentucky in the trauma center – teaching residents and medical students. After a move to California, she worked in the emergency department of a community ER. She then moved back to Mobile and has been practicing in Mobile since. She is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. She is married with two children.

Scott McNair, MD, FAAP, FACP

Dr. McNair passed on June 16, 2023. He was a great physician and an even better person and will be dearly missed by all of us at Greater Mobile Urgent Care, and so many others.


dr. vickers

Robert Vickers, MD

Dr. Vickers received his undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama. He graduated from the University of Alabama in Birmingham, School of Medicine. Dr Vickers completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Louisiana State University, School of Medicine where he also served as chief resident. He is board certified in Emergency Medicine. He is a native of Mobile and previously worked in the emergency room and as a professor for the University of Alabama, School of Medicine at Tuscaloosa. He is married and has three children.


Christopher Frailie, MD

Dr. Frailie received his undergraduate degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and his medical degree from the University of South Alabama. Dr. Frailie completed his residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and is board certified in Emergency Medicine. Dr. Frailie lives in Fairhope with his wife Katie and their three children.

Lynn McDonnell, MD, FAAP, FACP

Dr. McDonnell completed her undergraduate training at Auburn University and then obtained her medical degree at the University of South Alabama. She did a combined residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of South Alabama where she then served as Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine for twelve years. Dr. McDonnell resides in Mobile and has a daughter.

Ashley Myers, MD

Dr. Myers completed her undergraduate training at the University of Alabama and then obtained her medical degree at the University of South Alabama. She completed a combined residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of South Alabama. Dr. Ashley Myers is now board certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. She lives in Mobile, Alabama with her husband.

Susan Steadman Sweeney, MD

Dr. Sweeney received her undergraduate degree in Respiratory Care from the University of South Alabama in 1984. After graduating from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in 1993, she moved to Grand Junction, Colorado for a Residency in Family Medicine. She is board certified in Family Medicine. Dr Sweeney has been with GMUC for ten years. She and her husband, Joe, have two sons.

Timothy Hughes, MD, FACS

Dr. Hughes earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Alabama and his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in 1994. He finished his Residency in 1998 at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He is an Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor and maintains certification in Advanced Trauma Life Support. He is board certified and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He served 11 years in the United States Air Force as a Senior Flight Surgeon, with a decorated Honorable Discharge. He served as Chief Medical Officer for a corporation that provided healthcare for correctional institutions nationwide. He also serves as a Tactical Surgeon for SWAT and Special Operations teams with local and federal law enforcement agencies. He and his wife have two adult children.


mahatekar

Parag Mahatekar, MD

Dr. Mahatekar has been with Greater Mobile Urgent Care since 2012. He earned Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in 1993. He finished his Residency in 2000 at the University of Louisville. He is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine. He has served on the Board of Directors for Children of the World, and currently serves as President of the Board since December 2014.

Demetrius Steele, MD

Dr. Steele is a Board Certified Family Physician who has been practicing medicine for 19 years. Dr. Steele graduated from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN in 1999. He completed his Family Practice residency at Loyola University Medical Center, Provident Hospital, Chicago, IL in 2002. He practiced traditional Family Practice Medicine at George Regional Medical Center in Lucedale, MS for 16 years. He joined Greater Mobile Urgent Care in 2018.
